Existential Moment

why am I doing this? What is my goal? Am I acheiving that goal? How am I evaluating success? So at this point I feel like I'm spinning my wells with these explorations. My goal now is to represent two opposing forces within one study and to strike a balance or tension between those two forces. To bring some rigor to the treatment of the specimens would be to take this to the next level. Right now these are just messy physical objects being digitally photographed and (re)presented as 2d type.

Holga's Maiden Voyage

The photos below are scans of my first crack at my new Holga 120FN! My wife and I shot them with Fuji 120 color film. The locations range from our apartment to downtown Oakland to chinatown. There is absolutely zero photoshop treatment to these images. I think I've found true love in my Holga! Just kidding liz;) More to come . . .

9's

With this series of studies I attempt to reconcile a non–shapeable material with the machined structure of a plastic 9. I gues it's kind of an exploration of degrees of resistance from a material standpoint. Also at this point I am still running with the idea of structure vs. clothing. This opposition surfaced fairly clearly in the previous exploration of string and solder.

SAGZ

This series of letterforms was kind of a breakthrough in my process. Materials include yarn, thread, steel wire, mesh fabric, adhesive tape and solder. The most promising direction for me is the "E" on the far right of the second row.
